After consummating a marriage, does a woman’s future daughter from another husband remain mahram to her ex-husband?

Short answer: Yes — but with an important condition.

In Islamic law, once you marry a woman and consummate the marriage, her daughters (including from other marriages, whether before or after) become permanently mahram to you.

This ruling comes from the Qur’an:

“…and your stepdaughters under your guardianship, born of your wives unto whom you have gone in…” — Qur'an 4:23

    How it works (simple breakdown)

    • If you marry a woman AND consummate the marriage → ✅ All her daughters become mahram forever (doesn’t matter if they were born before or after your marriage)

    • If you marry but do NOT consummate → ❌ Her daughters are not mahram (you could technically marry them after divorce)

    Your specific scenario

“any subsequent child she get from another marriage thereafter”

✔️ Yes, still mahram — Because the mahram relationship is tied to:

    • your consummated marriage with the mother, not
    • when the child was born.

    So even if:

    • you divorce her
    • she remarries someone else
    • then later has a daughter

👉 That daughter is still your stepdaughter (rabibah) and permanently mahram to you.

    Why?

Scholars explain this falls under حرمة المصاهرة (prohibition through marriage ties) — once established through consummation, it becomes permanent, similar to blood relations in terms of marriage prohibition.

    Siapa Marthad?

Selepas masuk Islam, Marthad berubah.

“Janganlah kamu menikahi wanita musyrik sehingga mereka beriman…”

    Pengajaran ringkas

    • Perubahan (taubat & iman) mesti datang dulu

    Penutup
